Hypable spoke with Clark Gregg about his predictions for Agent Coulson and the crew on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2!

While chatting with Hypable about his new film Trust Me, Clark Gregg (aka, everybody’s favorite agent) also shared his thoughts on what the future will look like for Agent Phil Coulson.

“I’m really excited about… where the show has left Agent Coulson as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Gregg said, even though the covert organization “apparently no longer exists.”

“That just sounds inherently exciting,” he said. “It sounds like things are gonna get low-fi and brass knuckles and back to the origins of S.H.I.E.L.D., and that’s exciting to me.”

Gregg also shared his thoughts on the challenges Agent Coulson may face in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. The first season’s finale ended on an ominous note for the character, as the ordinarily composed agent seemed caught in a trance as he carved mysterious symbols into the wall.

When asked about whether or not Couslon will be trustworthy going forward, Gregg laughed. “I would like to say yes!” he said, “But I would have to put two asterisks. One would be: The only lesson from the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. might be, can you trust anyone?

And even if the characters at large can be trusted, Gregg continued, “The second one is, can you trust anyone who’s apparently ordering pizza in some alien language all over the wall? I don’t know for sure.

“I don’t think that’s a spoiler,” Gregg laughed. “I don’t know if he is ordering pizza!”

Finally, Gregg also confessed a long-term wish for the future of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “I would like at some point to explain to some certain Avengers that I’m not dead, and why.” And that’s not all.

“I feel like there’s a score that Agent Coulson has to settle with a certain Asgardian mischief maker,” Gregg concluded.

We couldn’t agree more.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to ABC in September.
