In advance of the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 finale, Gabriel Luna shares his favorite moments as Ghost Rider!

Luna will return as Robbie Reyes in next week’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 finale. The finale is titled “World’s End,” so it seems like a very good thing indeed that the Spirit of Vengeance has made it back to the mortal coil.

Gabriel Luna began reminiscing on his favorite Ghost Rider moments yesterday at Comic Book Resources. Today, the actor shares another favorite memory with us — a scene with Daisy from early in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4.

It’s a quiet confrontation, especially for the fire-first, questions-later Ghost Rider. The conversation is quiet and laden with meaning, both characters’ pretensions burning away quickly.

“There are so many levels to this scene for me,” Luna says. “One, we get to see Robbie feel the closest thing to fear he has felt in a long time. This girl he just met knows his darkest secret. She knows his identity and the identity of the person he loves most and he’s cornered.”

That person, Robbie’s younger brother Gabe, is a powerful motivating factor throughout Ghost Rider’s arc.

“Not that he couldn’t just torch his way out to protect Gabe,” Luna notes, “But he and the Ghost Rider decided Daisy’s fate in the junkyard, and to kill her now would be a choice he makes and an act he would have to commit as Robbie.”

And that, Luna says, is a much more significant act of brutality for him to contemplate.

“[Robbie is] afraid of what lethal violence he is capable of as himself alone,” he says, “and not as Ghost Rider.”
