Elizabeth Henstridge’s glamorous moment at a San Diego Comic-Con party ended with a hilariously memorable splash.

At Sunday’s Women of Marvel panel, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress told of her unfortunate run-in with a swimming pool at Entertainment Weekly’s yearly bash. The party, one of the most coveted invitations of the convention, was held around a swimming pool filled with models in inner-tubes.

Nobody seems to have been sure why the pool was filled with models in inner-tubes, but there they were. Henstridge, along with co-stars Chloe Bennett and Ming-Na Wen showed up for the poolside party looking especially fabulous.

“Everybody’s dressed up, and it’s very Hollywood,” she tells the audience at the panel.

The mishaps began, as the best mishaps do, with the lure of delicious desserts.

“We heard a rumor there [were] churros, and so we decided we were desperate for churros,” Henstridge says. Bennet found the churros first, and like any decent wing-woman, headed straight for her co-star to get the treats together. Henstridge was occupied speaking to Marvel’s newest wunderkind Tom Holland, star of Spider-Man: Homecoming, but quickly got her priorities in line when Bennett arrived.

“Gotta go!” Henstridge recalls telling Holland. “And I turn around, and I just march, I march straight into the pool!

“I was laughing so hard, I couldn’t move,” Bennett says, and Henstridge was laughing right along with her.

After Henstridge “slopped my way out of the pool,” she went home to change, and gamely returned to the party. Unfortunately the evening was winding down at that point, but Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb managed to save the evening with a backup plan.

“[He] took us all out for burgers,” Henstridge concludes.

“By the way,” Bennett adds, “We never got those churros!”
