A new web series sneaks behind the scenes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to reveal intriguing information about the Marvel show.

The series, titled Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Double Agent, will play out across five episodes and employ a rather meta setup. The episodes will focus on a new production assistant on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., who works undercover for an enemy known as “The Mastermind.”

(Maybe it’s DC Comics.)

The Mastermind appears to be well-intentioned however, as he (or she) demands answers for fans of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Having seen the jaw-dropping mid-season premiere earlier this week, we can’t deny that we’re hungry for all the answers we can get.

A preview for the web series promises “clues, secrets, and spoilers on upcoming episodes” – as well as car chases, apparently.

The first episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Double Agent is light on the spoilers, but it’s pretty funny to watch Ming-Na beat the guy up. And having been at Marvel panels at Comic-Con, we can confirm – that’s exactly what their security looks like.

The first episode also introduces an interactive element of the series, as fans can vote on where they think Alex will be snooping next. Viewers can also enter sweepstakes to win prizes “stolen” from the set of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

The next four episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Double Agent will be posted every few weeks until May 6 – presumably around the time of the season 2 finale. Until then, Alex will be visiting/infiltrating the set, soundstages, wardrobe, and offices of the epic Marvel production – and hopefully he’ll run into a few more cast and crew as well.
