The San Diego Comic-Con exclusive posters for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter are guaranteed to get your fannish heart fluttering.

The poster for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was drawn by artist Jim Cheung and colored by Romulo Fajardo Jr. The artwork appears to celebrate the darkness and intensity of the second season — but it seems that there are hints for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 hidden within the poster as well.

Specifically — and this is not a drill — Coulson has a metal hand! That appears to function very much like a normal hand! But is probably more badass!

Other hints within the design might include the presence of Simmons, who definitely does not seem Kree-rock-ified. In addition, Bobbi Morse is the only character who stands outside the “lens” of the image. Season 2 left Bobbi with serious physical and emotional scars — though she is certainly suited up for battle, we can’t help but wonder if her distance implies that Bobbi may separate herself from the greater team in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3.

Where the poster of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is upfront-and-center with its darkness and grit, the Comic-Con exclusive for Agent Carter presents a more stylized — though no less dramatic — glimpse at the upcoming second season.

The poster for Agent Carter season 2 was drawn by Kris Anka, and pays homage to the both the lighthearted and more sinister elements of that series. Peggy and Jarvis stand united at the center of the artwork, set against a backdrop of ’40s-era Hollywood. In spite of the lights in the backdrop, the sky is gloomy overhead; the famous Hollywood sign has been altered to say “Hollywoodland,” a reference to the 2006 film about the mysterious death of actor George Reeves in 1959.

Edit: Thanks to reader Thomas Carter for pointing out that “Hollywoodland” was the original iteration of the iconic sign.

Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter will make her move to California in Agent Carter season 2 — along with, at the very least, James D’Arcy as Jarvis and Enver Gjokaj as Agent Sousa — so the glitz of Los Angeles seems like a fitting setting for the poster.

Both posters will be available for free at the Marvel booth at San Diego Comic-Con; the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 and Agent Carter season 2 will also be signing the posters on Saturday. On Friday, even more information is set to be announced about both series at the Marvel Television panel at 3:30.
