Coulson’s desperate measures lead to drastic consequences when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 3×09 airs tonight.

The episode, titled “Closure,” will bring Coulson closer than ever to direct confrontation with Ward.

“Ward’s campaign for revenge brings the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to their knees,” ABC says. “And Coulson proves he will do anything to settle the score.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was off last week, but episode 8 gave fans plenty to chew over. “Many Heads, One Tale” dramatically altered the scale of the series, as Malick revealed to Ward that Hydra is dedicated to returning a dangerous Inhuman from the death planet — and has been for centuries.

S.H.I.E.L.D. figured out more or less the same thing, thanks to Simmons and Fitz finally sharing two awesome kisses, and Coulson cruelly interrogated Rosalind Price. Fortunately, Price turned out to be free of the taint of Hydra; Andrew, now at Ward’s mercy, was not as lucky.

As the first sneak peek suggests, Ward will be a major focus of “Closure” — but Coulson and Daisy’s focuses on Ward may be rather divergent.

In the second clip from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 3×09, Fitz and Simmons’ trip to investigate Project Distant Star Return (a.k.a. Hydra) reveals a few unexpected feelings, before ending badly.

Because of course it ends badly.

Banks isn’t being Kilgrave’d… right?

The still photos from tonight’s episode suggests a few different types of conversations, and show Hunter doing something that is probably stupid.

But however wild “Closure” promises to be, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeph Loeb has teased that fans haven’t seen anything yet.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 3×09, “Closure,” airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
