Skye is torn between her two families as trouble percolates on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 20.

The episode, titled “Scars,” will pick up after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, while there are several allusions to events of the movie, fans do not need to worry about blatant spoilers in tonight’s episode.

However, concern about the characters involved in the building tensions of a post-Ultron world is perfectly warranted.

On last week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the team reunited with Grant Ward to rescue Mike Peterson and Lincoln the Hot Inhuman Guy from Hydra. Though they had to sacrifice the Bus to Hydra’s bombs, the mission was successful apart from a few bumps in the road – Coulson was really there to steal intel from Hydra, and Simmons wound up killing Bakshi in her attempt to take out Ward. Ward escaped, leaving Kara in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.

Back at the base, Gonzales was pleased to have more powered people in his possession, and Coulson handed over the Toolbox. However, Coulson was only interested in the intel on Loki’s staff, which he shared with Maria Hill. As Raina had visions of destruction in Afterlife, Coulson initiated Theta Protocol – and called in the Avengers.

(And then all the stuff in Avengers: Age of Ultron happened.)

The first sneak peek from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 20 offers a glimpse at the physical and emotional fallout from last week’s episode.

The second clip from “Scars” finds Skye at the center of the mythological progress on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – and puts her in a position to deliver some painful words to May.

Oh yeah, she went there.

The still photos from tonight’s episode focus mostly on the Afterlife side of things, though we are also treated to a gratifying look at one of the Koenig brothers. We seriously missed those guys.

And the “Art of Evolution” poster for “Scars” is a stunning look at Jaiying, bearing the burdens of her long, literally-tortured history.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 20, “Scars,” airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
