Melinda May’s secretive history is finally unveiled in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 17.
The episode, appropriately titled “Melinda,” will answer questions fans have pondered since the beginning of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The episode will also advance Skye’s Inhuman training, bringing her closer to her miraculous mother, Jaiying.
Last week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. found Skye in the Inhuman absorption center, “Afterlife.” After meeting her cute-but-cagey “transitioner,” Lincoln, Skye confronted Raina – only to be held back from violence by Jaiying. Skye reluctantly agreed to stay and study with Jaiying, who did not reveal that she is Skye’s mother.

Meanwhile, Robert Gonzales offered May a position on his council, while Fitz escaped with the Toolbox after he and Simmons fooled literally everyone in the Playground. And Coulson and Hunter escaped from other-S.H.I.E.L.D. with the help of Mike Peterson, and jetted off the find their “worst option” – Grant Ward.

The second clip from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 17 shows Jaiying teaching Skye something we already knew about her powers, but it’s still cool.

The still photos from tonight’s episode focus exclusively on the events of Bahrain, though of course, it’s still not clear what happened there.
It’s safe to say that “Melinda” carries a heavy burden in the mythology of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Though the hints have been strong that the events which scarred Agent May involve a person with powers, it remains very difficult to imagine what could scar the unflappable badass so thoroughly. Still, the Art of Level Seven for the long-awaited episode indicates that fans should not expect to be underwhelmed by tonight’s revelations.
