Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its sophomore season tonight at a new time! Here’s everything you need to know about the season premiere, “Shadows.”
Change will have come for all agents when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 1 airs tonight on ABC. The premiere, titled “Shadows,” picks up several months after the shattering events of the season 1 finale – and time has definitely left its mark on the team.
“Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources,” the official episode synopsis says. “But that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?”
A recent preview for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 premiere sets a rather jauntier tone than expected, but the message of AC DC’s “Highway to Hell” rings loud and clear.
Really, the promo is almost cheerful (in a grim, unsmiling kind of way), especially compared to an opening clip from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 premiere. The sneak peek introduces Lucy Lawless as Agent Isabelle Hartley, and Nick Blood as the mercenary Lance Hunter – and we’re definitely keen to see more of them.
Still photos from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 1 also offer a welcome glimpse at the now-Director Coulson, as well as Patton Oswalt, returning as Agent (Billy) Koenig. We also get great looks at Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Brian Patrick Wade as Carl Creel, and Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot.
Oh, Agent May. How we’ve missed you!
