The big and small screens will collide as the story of Thor: The Dark World continues in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 8.

The over-arching story being told in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to officially spill over into television, Entertainment Weekly reports. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 8 will tie-in heavily to the events of Thor: The Dark World, which will be released in the US on Nov. 8.

The episode, titled “The Well,” looks like it will use the grand events of the film to personally challenge the members of Agent Coulson’s team. The official description for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 8 reads:

In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s ‘Thor: The Dark World, Coulson’ and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces–one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 8 will be directed by Jonathan Frakes, making it clear that Marvel will not be pulling any punches when “The Well” rolls around. Frakes is a prolific television director who is especially known for his involvement in the Star Trek franchise, as well as other sci-fi series such as Roswell and Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.

Though no actors from Thor: The Dark World are officially announced to guest-star in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 8, we aren’t keen to rule out any exciting cameos just yet. After all, Samuel L. Jackson made an incredibly memorable appearance as Nick Fury in the second episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a fact that was omitted by the official press release for the episode.

Overall, it looks like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be kicking into a dramatic high gear this month. After a one-week hiatus, the show will return this Tuesday with an episode titled “F.Z.Z.T.” A gripping promo for the episode makes it especially clear that the show will make its mystery-of-the-week crucial to the members of Agent Coulson’s team in a way it has not before. The summary for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 6 says:

When floating bodies turn up, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D must hunt down an elusive killer. No one is safe — not even the team.

“F.Z.Z.T.” will also re-introduce a familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Titus Welliver (Item 47) will reprise his role as Agent Blake.

Similarly, episode 7 (entitled “The Hub”) will feature Maximiliano Hernandez as Agent Jaspar Sitwell, a frequent partner of Agent Coulson’s from the big-screen adventures of S.H.I.E.L.D. “The Hub” will also take Agents Ward and Fitz into the highly-classified realm of Level 8 as well as put the two in mortal danger. Seems like the perfect lead-in to the Thor-centric Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 8.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
