The opening sequence of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 7 comes to us this week from TV Line, and serves as a change of pace from recent episodes. The cold open for “The Hub,” which will air tomorrow night, is the first since the series’ second episode to feature Agent Coulson and our other heroes – and it definitely shows them off to their advantage.
In the cold open, which you can check out below, a well-dressed and familiar prisoner has a few tricks up his well-pressed sleeve and turns the tables on his terrifying captors in order to initiate a daring escape.
In the clip, Agent Coulson has apparently been captured and is led to a grimy torture chamber by his guards. Coulson still has his sense of humor, which the guards think “The Interrogator” will soon put an end to – until it becomes clear that said Interrogator is the very man whom Coulson has come to extract. Aided by Agents May and Ward, Coulson and the new agent escape out to a snowy tundra and head to the Bus.
We can’t deny that it was a little bit perturbing to see Agent Coulson apparently at the mercy of scary, mold-encouraging thugs, but clearly he had things well in hand. Sorry we ever doubted you, sir.
The official summary for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 7 indicates that the intense opening sequence will probably be the most relaxing scene of “The Hub.”
Dangerous secrets are being kept from Coulson’s team and he works the system to save Ward and Fitz when they are sent on a Level 8 classified mission that may end in tragedy.

Coulson and his team are haunted by a mysterious force that threatens to destroy them all, and only a secret from May’s past can save them.
