The preview and stills for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 12 suggest that next week will be a whirlwind for Team Coulson.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 12 will air next Tuesday on ABC, and the promotional material suggests that the episode may be a game-changer. The episode, titled “Seeds,” will delve into Skye’s turbulent past and introduce several new characters – at least one of whom may be up to no good.

Coulson and May uncover startling information about Skye’s past, while the team is swept into a storm at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy.
While it’s nice to know that Skye’s mysterious past will finally begin to unravel, we can’t help but be even more excited to learn about the oft-mentioned S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy – or “S.H.I.E.L.D. Hogwarts,” as Skye once dubbed it.
Many of the promotional photos for “Seeds” appear to be set in, or at least near said Academy, though the activities they portray are decidedly extra-curricular. Ward, Skye, and FitzSimmons all appear to be rather relaxed at the Academy; based on what we know, though, they should try and keep their guard up.
Actually, Ward’s there, so he’s probably got it covered.

Among the interesting new faces we see at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy is that of Donnie Gill, played by Dylan Minette. Though he appears quite harmless in the lecture hall, sources indicate that Donnie’s warm features may, ah, chill in the near future.
Also featured are Christine Adams as Agent Weaver, and Maiara Walsh as Callie, the young woman who has caught Agent Ward’s attention.
As for Agents Coulson and May, well, they just sit around in Lola for a while looking awesome.

Oh, and Melinda May apparently goes on some sort of chase for one Agent Lumley (Boyd Kestner). Presumably, Lumley knows something about Skye’s past; otherwise, it seems odd that May would chase down one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s own.
But then again, it’s Agent May, and we mortals cannot always decipher her logic.
Though not featured in any of the images, the synopsis also reveals that David Conrad will return as wannabe millionaire-playboy-genius Ian Quinn. Quinn’s character was first introduced in episode three, and was last seen escaping in a helicopter as a chunk of Malta was buried under the ocean by Gravitonium.
The preview for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 12 focuses on Coulson’s rather un-cheery response to the facts of his resurrection, and the action set to take place on the Bus.
All things considered, it definitely looks like “Seeds” will be quite a whirlwind.
