Questions which have been plaguing Marvel fans since the premiere of The Avengers will be answered tonight in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11. The episode, titled “The Magical Place,” will mark the show’s return from the winter hiatus, and given the subject matter, it seems like tonight’s episode will be worth the wait.
When we last left our agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in episode ten, Agent Coulson had been kidnapped by the nefarious forces of the shadowy organization called Centipede. The newly-returned Mike Peterson was apparently killed in a blast set off by the baddies to cover their escape, and rooftop sniper Agent Ward had himself been sniped by Centipede’s getaway helicopter.
The official synopsis for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11 focuses on what Agent Coulson will go through as his team struggles to find their bearings and rescue their fearless leader.
Coulson uncovers vital information about the mystery of his death, but, with Centipede out for blood, this knowledge may come at the cost of one of the team.
The preview for “The Magical Place” gives fans a peek at some of the harrowing and creepy challenges Team Coulson will face this week.
As the preview shows, Saffron Burrows will return as the iron-fisted Victoria Hand in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11 – check out a sneak peek for Agent Hand in action right here. Joining Hand will be Firefly‘s Ron Glass as Dr. Streiten, and Ruth Negga and Cullen Douglas as Centipede operatives Raina and Edison Po. Aiden Turner also guest stars as Vanchat, a criminal who, as the episode opening indicates, may have information on Agent Coulson’s whereabouts.
Still photos from “The Magical Place” focus on the wacky (and violent) obstacles the agents will encounter as they struggle to recover Coulson.
Though it’s been a long time coming, as actor Clark Gregg said in a recent interview, it definitely looks like “The Magical Place” will have been worth the wait.
