The team’s resident misfit gets a handful of protocol in a tense sneak peek from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11.
A new sneak peek has been released from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11, which will air next week on ABC. The episode, titled “The Magical Place,” will deal with the aftermath of the show’s midseason finale in which Agent Coulson was taken captive by the nefarious operatives of Centipede.
The sneak peek, which was released on Yahoo! TV, shows us how one particular member of the team is coping in the absence of their fearless leader. The clip also features the return of Saffron Burrows as the bureaucratic Agent Victoria Hand, who first appeared as an enigmatic figure in “The Hub.”
In the sneak peek from “The Magical Place,” Agent Hand – who appears to have taken over operations on the Bus in the wake of Coulson’s disappearance – objects to Skye’s attempts to track down Centipede with her computer skills. Announcing that Skye is merely a consultant, she orders her off of the plane. Skye promises to follow “this protocol crap” as long as she can help find Coulson, but Hand (unsurprisingly) is kind of into protocol. When Ward vouches for Skye, Hand turns to Agent May and asks her if Skye will be useful on the plane. May responds with a cold, “No.” Shocked, Skye and Ward walk away as Hand orders Skye’s computer and phone confiscated.
Though things certainly seem grim for the fractured team, the preview for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11 does offer hope that our favorite agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will soon reunite to find their lost leader.
Meanwhile, the official synopsis for “The Magical Place” promises that, wherever Agent Coulson is being detained, he will not lack for excitement.
Coulson uncovers vital information about the mystery of his death, but, with Centipede out for blood, this knowledge may come at the cost of one of the team.
And if nothing else, it seems certain that Coulson – and Marvel fans – will finally learn the answers about Coulson’s apparent death. The frequent topic of speculation has been percolating since the release of The Avengers in 2012, and though the answers may open more mysterious doors, it will be a relief to know how (and why) the Son of Coul was brough back to the mortal coil.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 11, “The Magical Place,” will air on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
