Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 10 definitely went out with a bang. Check out our rhyming recap and share your thoughts on the fall finale!

Here’s our rhyming recap of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 10, “The Bridge”!

The episode starts at a well-guarded jail
The well-guardedness of which soon starts to fail
When breakfast is broken by blaring alarms
And an onslaught of soldiers with super-strong arms.

Their mission: To rescue one Edison Po
Who seems not to care if he stays or he goes
But he’s up and away just as fast as a blur
As soon as he’s given the magic word: “Sir.”

Back on the Bus, Skye is hunting her mom
A search that is clearly not meant to go on
When gentle discouragement fails to sway
Coulson fobs Skye off on poor Agent May.

Meanwhile, May has her hands full with Ward
Eventually knocking him down to the boards
He is relaxed with her after they train,
But May won’t get jiggy with him on the plane.

The team is informed about Edison Po
Who went to the clink after steak and a show
They know that he’s been sprung out by Centipede
And on this new mission, they’re taking the lead
To help out and add a whole new sense of fun,
They’re joined by the “bad guy” from episode one.

Mike boards the Bus in a very nice suit
He’s sorry for acting as Centipede’s brute
Though May and Ward don’t want him coming along
FitzSimmons and Skye think nothing will go wrong.

Coulson send Mike to FitzSimmons for testing
Where Simmons considers his form interesting
Fitz may be miffed, but he plays mood-swing tennis
When Mike says the Night-Night gun cured his Extremis.

Coulson and Ward go to hunt down a lead
Driving in Lola – much more Coulson’s speed
They shmooze about women, as guys tend to do
And Coulson think dating an agent’s taboo.

Meanwhile, Raina plays nicely with Po
And takes him around the whole Centipede show
It’s tough on their guys to keep fleeing from S.H.I.E.L.D.
So Po says to change up their old playing field.

With Ward as a dubious lottery lawyer
They track down Mike’s former (and evil) employer
Skye talks to Mike about Ace, his young son,
‘Til Coulson says Mike’s second chance has begun.

The Centipede conceals a melee
And Ward takes a hit that was for Agent May
Coulson is winded and Peterson stabbed
But a worse fate awaits the one soldier they grabbed.

He begs for his life as they question the guy
‘Til Raina sets off the kill-switch in his eye.
And ever-calm Po says, with subtlest glee
They’ve now found the key to beginning “Stage Three.”

Po also consults with the nameless “Clairvoyant”
But gives away nothing, ‘cuz he’s an annoyant
He did mention Raina, which so rings her bell
And the tension between them is creepy as hell.

Back on the airplane, Team Coulson is reeling
Mike is okay, though will be slow in healing
Centipede’s reach is beyond their belief
The same group turned Amador into a thief!

May and Ward fight about being protective
But Ward took the hit because May’s more effective
Skye wanders in at the very worst time
A frustrated May says the much-needed line:

She doesn’t have time for Skye’s family tree
If that’s why she’s here, then she just shouldn’t be.
Crying, Skye tears up her evidence stock
Coulson’s concerned, but decides not to knock.

Coulson and Mike talk about life decisions
Duty or family; two disparate visions.
Mike feels ashamed that his son saw him slip
Into violence and anger in Centipede’s grip
Though Coulson picked duty, wants Mike to wait
And consider his child before it’s too late.

Mike takes Coulson’s advice to his heart
And gives Ace a call to begin his fresh-start
He says he is coming back home to see Ace
But some pretty lady beat him to the chase.
(And we can’t say that, if our own kids were alone
It’s Raina’s voice we’d want to hear on the phone.)

Mike must give up or his son will be killed
And the team, though so varied and thoroughly skilled
Can only invent a haphazard new plan
To keep Ace and Mike out of Centipede’s hands.

FitzSimmons track Mike through a scent on the air
But of his own life, Peterson does not care
He only asks Coulson if he’ll come along
Ostensibly making sure nothing goes wrong.
Coulson agrees; May does not understand
But he tells her to lead if things don’t go as planned.

The hostage exchange seems at first to go well
Though Mike tries to send Raina – early – to hell
And Ward, playing sniper, is left in the blind
As there’s some metal thing that they’re meeting behind.

Though it looks like a win when young Ace is returned
We rapidly realize the tables have turned
Raina forced Mike into aiding her plans
It was really on Coulson she wanted her hands.
Mike and his son are supposedly freed
But Coulson is going with Team Centipede.

Coulson reacts with great calm to the news
He knew which choice Peterson was meant to chose
Mike is distraught, but Phil says it’s okay
Before he is drugged and then taken away.

Mike carries Ace safely back to the throng
And the team starts to realize that something is wrong
May calls for backup, but Mike has a plan
To go back and save our dear agent man.

Unfortunately, here is the point in the road
Where pretty much everything starts to explode
After the blasts, Mike has vanished from sight
And the car that held Coulson is burning up bright.

May is aghast and Skye is left screaming
FitzSimmons quite clearly are wishing they’re dreaming
And just as a cliffhanger-cherry-on-topper
Ward is gunned down by an unforeseen chopper!

The chopper in question turns out to hold Po
Plus Raina and Coulson, and she wants to know
What Coulson insists that he cannot describe:
What happened to him the day after he died.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return in the new year!
