As Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. draws closer, a new featurette takes a closer look at what will make the ambitious television show super.

Marvel has unveiled a new featurette exploring the characters of ABC’s highly-anticipated new series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. The clip, from ComingSoon, also includes thoughts from Joss Whedon, who will serve as an executive producer and directed the pilot episode.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is a show about the world of superheroes, as seen through the eyes of everyday people,” Whedon explains.

Set after the epic battle of Manhattan which concluded The Avengers, it appears that the science of the fantastic will be a regular theme of series. “This is a show that really could only exist in the Marvel universe,” Whedon says, but fans of his deft emotional touch will not be disappointed.

“Week after week, the stories will be big,” Whedon says. “But at the same time, it’s the intimacy that’s going to make great television.”
