Recent interviews with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star, Chloe Bennet, and show-runners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, reveal new hints about what the season has in store.

Fans of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are a curious bunch, especially after Tuesday night’s heart-stopping episode. Actress Chloe Bennet, who plays the recently recapacitated Skye, spoke to Zap2It about some of the show’s most pressing questions.

Foremost in many fans’ minds is potential connections between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier film. According to Bennet, “S.H.I.E.L.D. is a huge part of what is happening in the movie,” which will lead to a definite
crossover between Marvel’s film and TV mediums. “I can’t tell you how much,” she says, “But I can tell you that it is insane.”

“It will heavily affect our characters,” Bennet continues, promising that fans will “definitely want to watch our show before and after” catching the new Captain America movie on the big screen.

Bennet also hints that at least one very exciting guest star will be featured in future episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “The person is awesome,” she says, “But I cannot tell you who it is. Our fans particularly will like a certain guest star that is coming up soon.”

It is unclear whether or not said awesome person is connected to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But in a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show runners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen were rather coy on the subject.

“Our show exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Tancharoen says, “So what happens in the films informs the stories and events that occur on the show.”

The couple were a bit freer with other hints about the rest of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s first season. Whedon and Tancharoen did promise that more information about Melinda May will be uncovered by the season’s end – and that it will become clear whether or not the nefarious Clairvoyant is a character already established in Marvel comics.

Perhaps most deliciously, the show runners would neither confirm nor deny the casting of Agent Coulson’s oft-mentioned love interest – the Cellist. According to Tancharoen, though, “We do have an ‘expert’ giving an ‘actress we love’ a crash course of ‘cello lessons.'”

We’re taking that as a yes.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 15, “Yes Men,” will air on Tuesday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
