The drama and stakes increase dramatically in Agent Carter 2×06 and 2×07 — and here are a few hints at what’s ahead.

Jason is changing

Jason Wilkes disappeared in the final moments of last week’s episode, and the intangible scientist’s terrible predicament is pivotal to the story both in “Life of the Party” and “Monsters.” Jason’s scientific and personal straits change significantly over the next two episodes, offering viewers a new side of the much-beleaguered character.

But perhaps most crucial are the lengths to which Peggy goes to save her friend. Peggy resorts to drastic measures in Agent Carter 2×06 and 2×07 — and her decisions have consequences guaranteed to reverberate through the rest of the season.

‘I have a terrible idea.’

To be fair, Peggy goes into these decisions aware of how dangerous they are; unfortunately, unlike her horrific fall last week, Peggy is not the one who pays the price in the next two episodes.

This is partly because said horrific fall has left Peggy fighting to get off the disabled list. The twin pressures of her limited mobility and Jason’s fragile state lead her to recruit Agent Carter‘s favorite adder-in-the-grass, Dottie Underwood. Peggy does her best to keep the snake on a leash, and verbally spars with Dottie like nobody’s business; but for all her efforts, shocking circumstances might just lead to fatal opportunities for a certain Russian operative.

The relationship drama is not over

If fans thought that Violet and Sousa’s Peggy-inspired breakup would straighten out this season’s complicated romantic entanglements, they were mistaken. If anything, the events of “Life of the Party” and “Monsters” conspire to make Peggy’s emotional attachments even more complicated (and therefore, painful) than ever. But on the plus side, Jarvis takes note, and takes the opportunity to offer Peggy a hilarious commentary on her love life.

Power changes hands

Other than Whitney Frost’s dramatic mastery over Zero Matter, the established power bases of Agent Carter have remained relatively stable so far. But no longer.

With Agent Carter 2×06 and 2×07, the balance of power shifts radically. A coup is launched, threats are issued, and the influences of the S.S.R., the Council of Nine, Vernon Masters, and Joseph Manfredi become blatantly ensnarled. By the time the two episodes conclude, it’s a dark new day in the American underworld — and the real changes are only just beginning.

There’s a serious body count

Agent Carter season 2 hasn’t been conservative with spilling blood, but the next two episodes kick the death count into high-gear. And it’s not just nameless henchmen who get the proverbial axe, either; one regularly-credited character gets a notable send-off in these two episodes, while another’s fate is left in major jeopardy.

But don’t fret too much yet. From the way events in “Life of the Party” and “Monsters” play out, these are unlikely to be the last of Agent Carter‘s losses.

Agent Carter 2×06, “Life of the Party,” and Agent Carter 2×07, “Monsters,” air Feb. 16 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
