The trailer for season 2 of the Ricky Gervais’ Netflix series After Life features his character Tony trying help the people around him for a change.

Set in the small fictitious town of Tambury, the comedy-drama series After Life follows Tony, a writer for the local newspaper whose life is upended after his wife dies from cancer.

Season 1 of After Life centered on Tony immediately after the death of his wife.

After contemplating taking his own life, he decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. He thinks it’s like a Super Power — not caring about himself or anyone else — but it turns out to be tricky when everyone is trying to save the nice guy they used to know.

In season 2 of After Life, Tony is still struggling with immense grief for his wife. However, we now see Tony try to become a better friend to those around him. Each of the people he knows around him are grappling with their own problems — all of which is only intensified by the looming threat of the local newspaper being shut down.
