Amazon released a trailer for The Aeronauts, a movie bringing The Theory of Everything stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones back together.

The Aeronauts is a new movie inspired by true events that follows Amelia Wren (Jones), a hot air balloon pilot–or aeronaut–as she takes pioneering meteorologist James Glaisher (Redmayne) into the sky to study the weather and atmosphere as no one had before. However, their journey is anything but a safe one.

The Aeronauts is set in England in 1862. At this time, meteorology and weather prediction was nothing like we know it today, and James Glaisher was determined to make the science better to enable meteorologists to predict devastating weather events and ultimately save lives.

However, to do this, he decided to travel as high into the sky as possible to study the atmosphere. Because airplanes, drones, and other aircraft were hundreds of years away, Glaisher enlists aeronaut Amelia Wren to take him to the edge of the known world to study the atmosphere.

Of course, embarking on a journey to a place no one has gone before, and in a hot air balloon at that, made their chances of survival quite slim. The Aeronauts chronicles their harrowing journey, and from what we can see in the trailer, it’s a pretty intense one.

The Aeronauts was written by Jack Thorne and directed by Tom Harper. It also brings Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones back together on the big screen, as the pair worked together on the Steven Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything. Though the film itself faced some well-deserved criticism (especially in regards to casting an able-bodied man to play a disabled man), Redmayne and Jones most certainly had great onscreen chemistry, which will be nice to see again.

If you want to check out the dangerous, outrageous adventure that is The Aeronauts, you can do so in theaters or through Amazon Prime. The movie will open in select movie theaters on December 6, and it will be available to stream on Prime Video December 20.
