Fake news alert! Speaking at her final show of the 25 tour, Adele announced that this romp across the world may be her last.

During her show at Auckland, New Zealand’s Mt Smart Stadium, Adele made a claim that is sure to upset people who love attending her concerts.

“Touring isn’t something I’m good at… Applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable,” she said. “I don’t know if I will ever tour again. The only reason I’ve toured is you. I’m not sure if touring is my bag.”

Why am I so bullish on this comment being inaccurate? I’ve no doubt that touring may be difficult for Adele, but live performances are how artists make money these days. Even for someone like her, it’s difficult to make a profit exclusively off album sales when so many people opt to stream.

Once her record company and accountant speak to her, we’re sure she’ll come to her senses. Maybe she’ll consider alternate options like a residency in a specific city — something that’d be easier than traveling the world.

Britney Spears’ “Piece of Me” tour is a good example of a successful residency for a high-profile performer who’s looking to tour less. Brit performs a few nights a week in Vegas and can easily get home to her family in Los Angeles.
