Summer is coming. Naturally, this means ice cream. And maybe not so naturally, it means a Game of Thrones-inspired ice cream shop battle. You win or you… melt.

Game of Thrones season 3 is over, and there’s a long hiatus ahead of us, which will span both winter and summer. Still think the Westerosians have it rough?

To keep us talking about Game of Thrones over the summer, Uproxx reports that HBO has partnered with Foursquare to launch a battle between the most popular ice cream shops in New York City and San Francisco.

It’s all about who gets the most check-ins, so if you’re in either of these locations, help your favourite shop rise to the top!

How does this have anything to do with Game of Thrones, you ask? In both cities, the shop with the most check-ins on the first day of summer (June 21) will win an iron cone – an actual cone made of iron, filled with ice cream.

And don’t forget that there’s also a Game of Thrones-inspired beer, created by Brewery Ommegang, who has released the Iron Throne Blonde Ale in select bars.

Now for the big question: if Game of Thrones was an ice cream, what flavour would it be?
