Though the adaptation of Deborah Harkness‘ A Discovery of Witches has yet to hit television screens in the U.S., it has already been renewed for seasons 2 and 3.

Following the conclusion of the first season of the adaptation, based on Harkness’ All Souls trilogy, on British television, Sky One announced that the show would return for a second and third outing.

In a post on Harkness’ Facebook page, the author announced that the, “enormous success of the show in the UK and Europe has made it possible for future seasons to be greenlit and go into production.”

According to Harkness, the writers are already working on the scripts for season 2, with an aim to begin casting and shooting in 2019. “Elizabethan London, here we come!” she added, referencing a plot from the second entry in the All Souls trilogy, Shadow of Night.

The first season of A Discovery of Witches is slated to hit U.S. televisions on January 17, 2019. The series follows Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer), a historian and a witch, who discovers a coveted tome, thrusting her back into a life she thought she had suppressed and left behind following the deaths of her parents.

Bishop crosses paths with vampire Matthew de Clarimont (Matthew Goode), who also seeks the tome. And, despite the less-than-ideal relations between vampires and witches, the two form and alliance and — ultimately — fall in love.

A Discovery of Witches will air on Sundance Now and Shudder in the U.S.
