The 86th Annual Academy Awards have announced the 10 films remaining in the Visual Effects nominee race.

The shortlist of films is as follows:

Elysium
Gravity
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Iron Man 3
The Lone Ranger
Oblivion
Star Trek Into Darkness
Thor: The Dark World
Pacific Rim
World War Z

Man of Steel is one film that is surprisingly absent from the list of remaining nominees. The Zack Snyder Superman story hit theaters over the summer and beautifully balanced gritty visual effects with a great story, in our opinion.

How will these 10 films be narrowed down to five? Members of the Visual Effects Branch will see excerpts from each on January 9, then the members will vote to select the final films competing at the Academy Awards.

The 2014 Oscars will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014 and hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.

Which film do you think will take home the VFX Oscar?
