Netflix has brought some pretty spectacular original shows into our lives, and from the looks of their new spending, they’re only going to create more amazing original content.

At the MoffettNathanson’s Media & Communications Summit, Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos shared the streaming giant’s plans to drastically increase original programming in the coming year. It’s a delicate balance, creating new shows while also being a place that fans can come to stream older shows. However, by the end of 2018, Netflix plans to have significantly increased the number of original shows on the service with 85% of new spending going to original programming.

As Variety reports, the streaming service hopes to have 1000 original shows on Netflix by the end of 2018, with 470 of those shows premiering between now and the end of the year. Apparently, more than 90% of Netflix users watch the original programming available on the streaming service, so it makes sense for them to double down and create as much as possible.

Netflix has a great reputation with creators, and according to Sarandos, producers are lining up for the opportunity to create a show for the streaming giant. And with a lineup of shows like Stranger Things, Lost in Space, big deals with Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes, and the newly-acquired horror anthology from Guillermo del Toro, it’s no wonder the streaming service has such a great reputation.

While we all love the rise of streaming services for giving us a place to remember how much we love shows that are no longer on the air, Netflix has been creating some truly awesome original shows and movies. And now that they’re partnering with stronger and stronger talent every day, we can’t wait to see how the caliber of original programming on the streaming service will continue to improve.

We’re excited to see how Netflix continues to grow and evolve its programming in the coming years, and the awesome new content the streaming service will be sending our way soon.
