At Star Wars Celebration Europe, Hypable had the opportunity to preview the first two episodes of Star Wars Rebels season 3. Here are eight teases to tide you over until the premiere.

When Star Wars Rebels aired its season 2 finale, we went through a rollercoaster of emotion, as the show shook the core of the series and devastated our beloved crew of the Ghost.

With Ahsoka facing down Vader with an incredibly ambiguous outcome, Kanan blinded by Maul, and Ezra unlocking the Sith Holocron, there’s no turning back as Rebels hurtles toward the events of A New Hope, taking a far darker path with Rogue One on the horizon.

While we can’t give any definitive answers to your burning questions ahead of Rebels‘ third season premiere later this year, we can ease your inquisitive mind with a few teasers. Strap yourselves in, guys. It’s going to be a rough ride.

Our ‘Star Wars Rebels’ season 3 teases

  1. Rebels won’t pick up exactly where we left off in season 2, allowing for a little distance from the events of the finale. That doesn’t mean we won’t experience the consequences of some of those life-changing moments — we’ll just be thrown right into the middle of a fairly complicated situation and fractured crew.
  2. Though Hera wasn’t as present as we may have liked her to have been, that doesn’t mean we didn’t love what we got. While some of the crew of the Ghost have taken disparate paths, Hera’s resolve has remained steadfast — and she’s certainly been rewarded for it.

  3. Kanan’s blindness has affected more than just his physical state, and that has had its toll on multiple relationships on the Ghost. By the end of the premiere, Kanan will have found guidance from an unlikely place and taken his first steps toward a solution to both his blindness and those broken relationships — but not the one he may have hoped for.
  4. In Kanan’s absence, Ezra has become reliant on a source of knowledge that has directly led to him becoming a fairly competent leader, though it is something of a crutch. More has changed in Ezra than just his hairstyle — but that change only seems to have been noticed by one member of the crew in particular.
  5. The Holocron changes hands multiple times over the course of the premiere, before ultimately ending up in the possession of someone with dubious allegiances. Whether or not the decision to leave it in this character’s care is for the best remains to be seen.
  6. Ahsoka’s fate at the close of the second season was never definitively answered — no body, no death, am I right? — but the crew of the Ghost seem to be fairly decided on which of the two it is. The show itself, however, may leave things slightly more open-ended.
  7. By the close of the premiere, we’ll see Ezra lose something that he recently gained due to his actions throughout the episode. But that something is not the Holocron.

  8. It’s no secrect that Grand Admiral Thrawn will be making his first on-screen appearance in Rebels season 3, but we get a taste of his prowess in the premiere. That prowess, however, may not be exactly what’s expected of his anticipated entrance — but it is by no means less menacing and sets him up as a formidable force working against both the Ghost’s crew and the fledgling Rebellion.
