There is fall TV, and then there is fall TV. Settle back with some classic fall-themed episodes of old shows and watch the seasons change.

Fall season is officially upon us, which means that a slew of TV shows are premiering or coming back.

But sometimes it’s all just cold and dark and new and scary, and all you want to do is curl up with an old favorite, vicariously walking through the crunchy red and yellow leaves and warming up with cozy boots and sweaters all from the comfort of your couch.

To aid that noble goal, we’ve selected five more-or-less feel-good fall-themed episodes of more-or-less old TV series to fill your heart and soul with gold and burnt sienna-tinged nostalgia.

‘Gossip Girl’ 6×10 ‘New York, I Love You XOXO’

Listen up, Upper East Siders: Fall is here, so wrap your oversized scarves around your dainty necks, zip your Louis Vuitton star trail ankle boots up over your skinny jeans, and… you know, make like a tree.

There really is nothing like New York City in the fall — or so movies and TV shows have told me — and there is nothing like Gossip Girl to really show off the best sides of the city.

A lot happens in the Gossip Girl series finale (most of which I’ve tried very hard to forget), and it all happens in front of a magical autumn NYC backdrop. Chuck and Blair’s wedding takes place in Central Park, which is gorgeous in its autumnal glory, and everyone’s outfits are, of course, timelessly inspiring.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ — 2×06 ‘Halloween’

Buffy had its fair share of Thanksgiving and Halloween-themed episodes, and they were all deliciously spooky and toe-curling.

For this list I’ve picked the first one, “Halloween,” where the gang goes trick-or-treating and almost everyone becomes possessed by their costume, thereby getting to express a secret desire to embrace a different side of themselves.

Buffy becomes a helpless maiden who needs Angel to rescue her. Xander becomes a marine soldier with skills and experience that wow the rest of the group. Willow, who is wearing a sexy costume underneath a sheet, retains her personality but gets to express confidence and leadership.

Spike and Drusilla hunt them as they move through a colorful, pumpkin-dressed Sunnydale and everyone learns a little bit more about who they truly are and who they want to be. Plus, Oz is there! What’s not to like?

‘Parks and Recreation’ 3×07 ‘Harvest Festival’

I don’t know about you, but whenever I think about fall, I think about Lil’ Sebastian.

In the Parks and Recreation season 3 episode “Harvest Festival,” Leslie Knope has to pull off an elaborate festival in order to save the Parks department. The festival had been seven episodes in the making, so by the time it comes around, the audience is as ripe as the characters.

There is a corn maze and a ferris wheel, hay stacks, romance, and did I mention Lil’ Sebastian?

‘Friends’ 3×09 ‘The One With the Football’

Friends is another New York City-based series, though the characters rarely ever actually stepped outside. A rare exception was the season 3 episode “The One With the Football,” one of many Thanksgiving (and therefore fall!)-themed episodes.

As the episode title suggests, the gang actually goes outside to play football, finding a court in a nearby park (Central Park? I assume there are other parks).

Yes, it looks suspiciously like a sound stage, and yes, that wall definitely wobbles when Chandler slams into it, but hey, it’s dressed like fall and makes you feel all cozy. Plus, (almost) everyone gets to go inside and have delicious food afterwards.

‘Gilmore Girls’ 3×09 ‘A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving’

Really, this article could just be a list of Gilmore Girls episodes, as that series is pretty much autumnal feels on tap. (Forget snow — it’s always fall in Stars Hollow.)

One episode that might particularly satisfy your fall cravings is “A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving,” in which the town hosts an autumn festival and Rory and Lorelai attend no less than four Thanksgiving feasts.

Look no further than this Gilmore Girls episode for your fall decor ideas (accentuated by the orange and yellow bouquet Rory carries around for most of the episode), go get yourself a replica of Suki’s very stylish tartan wrap, and don’t forget to never ever deep-fry your turkey.

Happy fall, everyone! Share your favorite fall-themed TV show episodes in the comments.
