Suits season 5 premieres this Wednesday, June 24, at 9:00 p.m. with “Denial.” We picked a few reasons why we’re looking forward to the new season!

Season 4 may have finished just a few short months ago — back in March — but Suits is back this week with a new season full of new who-know’s-what kind of storylines. We’re sure looking forward to finding out though. Below are five reasons we are excited for Suitsseason 5.

The Harvey, Donna & Louis Dynamic

At the end of season 4, Donna had enough of Harvey’s antics — both in the professional and personal spaces. After Louis’ secretary Norma passes away, she agrees to shift allegiance from one name partner to another. Harvey respects and admires Donna, but at the same time, he has a very primal, possessive, way of thinking about her relationship with Louis. Namely, he doesn’t want the two having much to do with each other — he sees it as a betrayal on Donna’s part.

How long Louis and Donna’s relationship as boss/assistant will live is up to much debate. It could be the Suits season 5 premiere episode, it could be the entire duration of the season, or even the rest of the series. But Harvey most likely will never be happy about it.

Rachel and Mike: Wedding Planners

Yes, Mike in a very swoon-worthy way, proposed to Rachel last season, and she accepted without a moment’s hesitation. Time moves funnily on Suits, it doesn’t move in real time (sometimes an episode takes place over the course of a day, a week, or longer). So while it’s season 5, and 2015, it’s more likely somewhere around 2014 for these characters. Unless there’s a time jump of sorts, we can expect (and hope) to see these two starting to plan their wedding. Plus: this leaves the door open for more Robert Zane this season, and we love him.

Like the above trio though, we know that plans change very quickly. While we love Rachel and Mike together, we’re no expecting a smooth walk down the aisle. And if we’re wrong, then the optimists win this round.

New villains!

Like a serialized crime/super hero, there’s usually always one over-arching baddie throughout a season of Suits. Last season, it was the FBI trying to catch the entire firm red handing for a myriad of wrongdoings, but our heroes (“heroes” — these guys are not curing cancer here) once again won the battle with minor scaring. The premise of the show is still as clear as ever: Mike illegally practices law, but now all our major players know it. It will be interesting to see how they can shake it up this season, after a seemingly endless string to men trying to uncover the secret.

Ex-pro basketball players guest starring

Well, one ex-pro basketball player, multiple times, at least. Charles Barkley, NBA analysis and television personality, will appear as himself soon in Suits season 5 (whether that’s the premiere episode or one in a few weeks, we’re not sure) as well as another episode later in the season. The press release announcing his role explains, “a long-time client of Pearson Specter Litt, Barkley surfaces in an effort to help Harvey make amends with a fellow partner at the firm.”

There are so many questions about his role — yet another reason to watch the episode — but, is this ‘fellow partner’ Jessica? Louis? Is it personal or business-related?

It’s summertime and ‘Suits’ is fine viewing

Ever since Suits premiered years ago, it’s been used to anchor USA Network’s summer lineup — very successfully, we might add. Now, our association between the season and the show is strong, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Check out the synopsis for the season premiere and be sure to tune in Wednesday.

In the Season Five opener, Harvey has difficulty adjusting to changes around the office, which affects his ability to do his work. Donna must acclimate to working for Louis, who’s certain it’s only a matter of time before she returns to Harvey. Mike and Rachel must decide how and when to share their big news, but their excitement about their future together will take a back seat to Harvey and Mike’s latest case.

Suits season 5, episode 1, “Denial,” airs Wednesday, June 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET on USA Network.
