5 of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes commemorated ten years as superheroes and wrapping filming on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 by getting matching tattoos.

The MCU has been in our lives for a decade now, and while that’s a huge piece of our lives, but for the actors from the first Avengers film, Avengers 4 marks the end of a huge era in their lives. So it’s no surprise that the group decided to commemorate the end of filming Avengers 4 with some matching ink.

Once filming wrapped on both films (which were shot back-to-back) the original Avengers (minus Mark Ruffalo) decided to get a matching tattoo with a designed version of the Avengers logo. As Entertainment Weekly reports, New York tattoo artist Josh Lord inked Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johannson, Jeremy Renner, and Chris Hemsworth. Lord inked Evans and Johannson in New York, and flew to LA to ink up the remaining three.

And while Cap and Black Widow were inked separately, it didn’t stop Scarlett Johannson from joining the rest of her crew in LA to watch them all get inked. Chris Evans wasn’t able to be there, but it still seemed like an awesome time of Avengers bonding. Thankfully, we’re in the age of social media, so thanks to RDJ’s Instagram, even though fans weren’t at the ink party, we still get to feel like we were a part of it all.

It’s not clear why Mark Ruffalo ended up passing on the tattoo bonding moment. Of course, Ruffalo isn’t the first cast member of a popular franchise to opt out of a group tattoo. Back when the cast of the Lord of the Rings movies got their matching ink, John Rhys Davies (Gimli) ended up opting out of the experience as well.

So while it’s too bad that all six original Avengers weren’t able to be together to celebrate this moment together, we love that they found a cool and creative way to mark a decade of superhero life. The Avengers and the MCU as a whole have meant so much to so many of us, and we love to see that it has meant just as much to them as well.
