Don’t expect actress Thandie Newton to spill the beans when it comes to the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo film!

The Westworld star is definitely keeping tight-lipped on her role in the highly anticipated film, but one thing she does want fans to know is that the Star Wars anthology flick has totally exceeded her expectations.

Newton recently sat down with Oprah Winfrey for Variety’s latest Actors on Actors series, where she revealed that she never could have imagined what was in store when she first signed on.

“I had these ideas of what it would be, and it was completely different to everything I imagined,” said Newton. “I’m so thrilled, but I’ve signed a non-disclosure [agreement] and I can’t say a word.”

While we’ve known for a while that actors Alden Eherenreich will be playing Han, Donald Glover will be playing Lando Calrissian, and Woody Harrelson will be playing some sort of mentor, Newton’s character remains shrouded in mystery.

In fact, like Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke, they’ve both been cast as mystery characters we likely won’t know much about until we get closer to the release date of the film.

Newton might not be able to gush about her character, but one thing she can be vocal about is what it means for her to be part of such a beloved franchise.

“To be part of a legacy like Star Wars, it’s loved for a reason,” explained Newton. “I could have been in it for a brief little nothing and I would have been thrilled and delighted. [but it meant more] to be taken seriously, as a woman of color at 44 years old, to be in a dope-ass franchise.”

We can’t wait to find out more about who Thandie Newton will be playing in the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo anthology film!

The upcoming Star Wars Han Solo anthology film is set to be released May 25, 2018.
