A big villain was dispatched while even more put their plans into motion on 24 season 9, episode 9. Check out our recap, and share your thoughts on “Day 9: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.”

Just as 24 runs in real time, so do our recaps. Here is everything that happened in episode 9:

Previously on 24

CIA Head of Station Steve Navarro
CIA Comms Chief Jordan Reed
Jack Bauer
Chief of Staff Mark Boudrea
Margot AL-Harazi

Jack makes his long-awaited return to the “previously ons.” Just in case you forgot who that angry American who talked real low was.

7:00 p.m. – 7:13 p.m.

Let’s just get the big one out of the way: President Heller was NOT killed in the drone attack on Wembley. Chloe worked her Chloe magic and hacked into the video feed of the drone. Let us never doubt the legitimacy of the silent clock again. No silent clock, no death.

The British and American governments are not aware of this, however. P.M. Allister thanks Audrey for her father’s sacrifice and Audrey just looks even angrier at Mark than usual.

Once Margot and Ian discover Heller’s treachery, they immediately halt their part of the bargain to destroy the drones. Five have already been destroyed, but they still have one left. And that drone is going to be sent directly to Waterloo Station.

7:17 p.m. – 7:28 p.m.

Chloe is able to find Margot’s hideout with a little help from Adrian Cross, who has obviously been hacking GPSes in his spare time. Margot is at Tundel House in East London, apparently (LONDONERS: is this a real location or just a 24-ism?).

Kate and Erik arrive soon after and immediately engage Margot’s 20+ goons in a firefight. Kate has the smart idea to grenade the power station on the building so Margot has to resort to her backup generator, which makes her location visible to Chloe.

Reinforcements arrive and Kate and Erik push through the building from the ground up, while Jack lands on the roof. Finding the traditional route of stairs too conventional, Jack repels down the side of the building. Jack arrives at the window of the room containing Margot and Ian. Ian shoots the window out and then goes to investigate, where Jack pulls him out and throws him down to his death.

Jack enters the room and subdues Margot. There is only thirty seconds until a missile from the drone strikes Waterloo. Jack is able to stop it with help from Chloe.

Margot tells Jack that all the blood from today is on his hands.

“The only death I have on my hands…is yours,” Jack responds and throws her out the window.

Margot talked a pretty game for the terrorist who killed the least amount of people in 24 history. Abu Fayed sees your handful of hospital casualties, Margot, and raises you nuking the city of Los Angeles.

7:33 p.m. – 7:39 p.m.

Belchek tells Heller his name is just “Belchek, like Madonna.” In related news: Belchek is the best. He brings Heller back to the Presidential Suite without incident and Heller gets his many reunions. This includes telling Allister, “I’m sure if the circumstances were different, you’d do the same thing, Allister.” Stephen Fry’s facial expression at this is probably the funniest moment of the season.

Meanwhile, Kate gets the bad news that Jordan is dead. Steve also receives this news and understands that he must flee the country ASAP. Adrian Cross tells him that this can be accomplished if Steve just brings him the override device.

7:44 p.m. – 7:49 p.m.

Chloe tells Jack she’s not coming back to the CIA with him. She’s had fun, but it’s time to go back to her hacker people.

Kate sees Jordan’s body and is understandably sad. She also has Erik run fingerprints on his dead assailant.

Jack arrives back at CIA and right off the bat makes it very difficult for Steve to take the override. He also recognizes that Jordan was taken out by a covert operative in like 12 seconds. Jack is so amazing at his job, it’s ridiculous. We wonder if it’s hard to write for a show where the lead character is correct 100% of the time. That’s probably why most 24 supporting characters seem like dummies.

7:53 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Jack’s guy at the Pentagon looks like director Brad Bird. He also discovers that Jordan’s assassin is James Harmon, a known associate of Steve Navarro. Jack has discovered that Steve is crooked in less than 10 minutes – good for even his standards.

Steve kills the CIA employee analyzing the override, grabs it and leads Jack on a chase through the CIA headquarters and then into the streets of London where Jack loses him.

He calls Cross to confirm that he has the override and will be able to leave the country. Cross hangs up the phone and Chloe gets back in the car from her apparent potty break at a gas station. Cross tells Chloe he has to meet up with an old friend and then they kiss. EWWWW CHLOE! HE’S A BAD GUY, DON’T YOU KNOW THIS?!?!?

And just like that, we’re officially in the second part of the 24 season where the initial threat has been taken out and it’s time to move on to discover who’s really behind it.

Will Chloe find out the truth about Adrian before it’s too late?
