Margot takes an extreme step (even for her) on 24 season 9, episode 7. Check out our recap, and share your thoughts on “Day 9: 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.”

Just as 24 runs in realtime, so do our recaps. Here is everything that happened in episode 7:

Previously on ’24’

Every week the biggest bragging rights on 24 belong to those characters who get their name shouted out in the opening credits. This week it’s:

Margot Al-Harazi
Simone Al-Harazi
Chief of Staff Mark Boudreau
Agent Kate Morgan
CIA Head of Station Steve Navarro

Is anyone else disappointed that “Homicidal Bus” didn’t get a shoutout?

5:00 p.m. – 5:10 p.m.

After last week’s tragic bus attack, the paramedics show up to tend to Simone in about ten seconds. Emergency response is no joke in England. Yasmine immediately outs Simone as the person who killed her mom.

Back at Rask’s creepy headquarters, Jack is letting MI5 know just how he feels about protocols. The head MI5 agent lets Jack know that he can take things up with his President. He does and asks for even more autonomy, which Heller obviously grants. Jack and Kate speed off to the hospital where Simone is being held.

Prime Minister Davies confronts Heller with knowledge of his Alzheimer’s. Heller…does not respond well.

Margot tries to reach her daughter via phone and instead gets a paramedic. Time for the Al-Harazis to let their man, Kareem, loose in the hospital.

5:15 p.m. – 5:24 p.m.

Navarro talks with the mysterious big bad on the other end of the line…who doesn’t remain mysterious for much longer. It’s Adrian Cross! And we totally called it! Cross reveals to us that Navarro sold out Kate’s husband and it’s really he who sold state secrets to the Chinese. Cross then reveals to Navarro that Jordan is still mucking around where he shouldn’t. Navarro and Cross arrange to have Jordan “handled.”

Jack tells the doctors at the hospital that he needs to talk to Simone RIGHT NOW. Jack is the type of guy who tells a doctor “I’m not asking, I’m telling…” and then still follows it up with “please” anyway.

5:28 p.m. – 5:35 p.m.

President Heller comes to the rough realization that he can’t handle his duties anymore. He arranges to meet with his Vice President to come up with a secession plan after this brutal day is over.

Jack and Simone have their “chat” where Jack puts pressure on her severed finger and tells her her own mother wants to kill her. Kate is visibly upset by Jack’s tactics which leads to either the MOST self-aware or LEAST self-aware line in 24 history.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that. I just hate these people for thinking there’s anything that could justify what they’re doing,” – Jack Bauer, Torturer.

Jack notices someone who shouldn’t be on the locked-down floor. It’s, Kareem, of course, who leads Jack and some agents on a hospital-wide shoot out before being gunned done. A quick look at Kareem’s texts (password protect, bro) reveals that Simone will be sending a drone to the hospital to take out Simone.

5:40 p.m. – 5:48 p.m.

Game of Thrones’ “The Watchers on the Wall” rightly just received a lot of credit for expanding the possibilities of action on the small screen but this 24 chase scene is no joke either, especially for a network show.

Jack convinces Simone to willingly flee the hospital with him and Kate runs off to retrieve young Yasmine. Yasmine gets handed off to the Feds and Jack, Kate and Simone pile into a car to outrun the drone strike…which actually destroys the hospital! The aftermath is believably chaotic and terrifying and the camera lingers nicely on Simone’s horrified reaction. Navid wasn’t so wrong after all.

Their car avoids a pair of missile strikes before running into traffic. Jack reacts the only way he knows how by straight-up slugging a civilian in the face and stealing his car. They race under a bridge and swap cars again (this civilian doesn’t get punched but does get a gun pointed at him). Jack smartly puts a brick on the now empty car’s gas pedal to draw out the final missile strike from the drone, while he, Kate and Simone drive off safely. But…R.I.P. That Guy’s Car.

5:52 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Jordan dutifully turns up at the bogus “drop point” Navarro sends him too. He get’s shot by one of Cross’s men but somehow survives and crawls out of the Thames.

Mark meets with his Russian contact who reiterates just how badly the Kremlin wants Jack. This will not end well for Mark.

Heller calls Jack to tell him that he’s deeply upset by what he saw at the hospital and that he needs to see him. Why does he need to see Jack?

Well it probably has something to do with the very next scene where he gets in touch with Margot and tells her he’s willing to turn himself over to her. Say it ain’t so, Mr. President!

Will President Heller really turn himself over to Margot? Share your thoughts below.
