The cast and crew of 24: Legacy took over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday to tease fans in attendance with what they can expect from this new chapter in the series’ history.

The highlight of the panel came when fans were treated to a great clip that showcased actor Corey Hawkins’s character, Eric Carter. The exclusive footage from the upcoming series features an action-packed sequence that occurs after the terrorists that have been hunting down Carter finally catch up to him and his wife. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though the new footage has made its way online yet, but we’ll keep you posted and let you know when it does!

Additionally, the cast and crew teased a few more tidbits with regards to the upcoming series:

  1. Actor Corey Hawkins is taking the lead this time around and according to him, Eric Carter is a “hero for a new day.” Hawkins also said that because Eric is a soldier, the way he approaches and struggles with protecting his family versus protecting his country makes for an interesting juxtaposition.
  2. Showrunner Evan Katz revealed that Eric Carter’s story was partially inspired by the story of SEAL Team Six. “We were inspired originally by the story of these guys who killed Osama Bin Laden— these essentially superheroes who have to assimilate back into society,” said Katz.
  3. Fans who were hoping we might find out how Jack’s doing at some point doing 24: Legacy will be disappointed to know that we probably won’t catch up with him this time around. According to showrunner Manny Coto, it’s just not in the cards right now. “All the characters are alive, [but] we’re not planning that right now,” said Coto. “Our plan is to tell this story. We love [Jack], but we also love this story.”
  4. Kiefer Sutherland may not be back as Jack Bauer, but even so, the actor gave 24: Legacy his stamp of approval. According to showrunner Manny Coto, Sutherland “read the script, saw the pilot, and loved it.”

’24: Legacy’ premieres Sunday, Feb. 5 after the Super Bowl on Fox
