The past few years there’s been talk of creating a film adaptation of the TV show 24. We’ve gotten word today that the film most likely isn’t going to move forward.

Director Antoine Fuqua was linked to directing the 24 adaptation. In a recent interview with Indie Wire to promote his latest project, Olympus Has Fallen, he was questioned about the status of 24 the movie:

“Yeah, that’s not happening. I don’t think it’s gonna happen at all, definitely not with me…I met with Kiefer [Sutherland], Fox wanted to do it, it was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch]…I don’t think he was able to get a proper agreement with Fox. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing.”

Unfortunately for 24 fans, this isn’t good news, as the likelihood of a 24 movie anytime in the future isn’t high. It’s not surprising, though, the last 24 news we heard was over a year ago, when lead actor Kiefer Sutherland said shooting was going to start “in a few months.” Clearly, that didn’t happen.

Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen stars Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Dylan McDermott , Ashley Judd, and Aaron Eckhart and will hit theaters on March 22.
