20th Century Fox has confirmed a Prometheus sequel is set to hit theaters in 2014 or 2015, with Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace already signed on to the project.

In a recent interview with THR, Fox confirmed that the studio is actively pushing forward with a sequel to Ridley Scott’s summer hit Prometheus. The film wasn’t exactly a smash, but with a budget of only $130 million and raking in $303 million globally, it’s easily in sequel territory. Although, new writers are being looked for as Prometheus‘ writer Damon Lindelof may not be available for the second film.

“Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it,” says Emma Watts, Fox’s president of production. Watts is also in charge of the Planet of the Apes sequel as well as the X-Men First Class sequel, so we look forward to seeing those come to fruition as well.
