The nominations for the 2016 Oscars have been revealed, and the live stream was full of surprises.

The 88th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 28, 2016, hosted by Chris Rock.

The nominations were announced today, by Guillermo del Toro, Ang Lee, John Krasinski and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, streamed live for your enjoyment.

Some clear favorites have emerged over this past award season, and we were not shocked to see critics’ darlings Carol, The Big Short, The Revenant and Spotlight earn nods in major categories.

What was more surprising — and refreshing — was the massive success of Mad Max: Fury Road, which was nominated in 10 major categories. This makes it the most nominated film of the year, next to The Revenant (which received 12 nods).

There was a disappointing lack of diversity this year, however, with white actors and actresses dominating in all categories. Not a single person of color received an acting nomination this year, which has prompted the return of the scathing, yet apt hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.

Leonardo DiCaprio received his much-anticipated nod in the Best Actor category, and we’re very curious to find out if 2016 will finally be his year. Eddie Redmayne, who won for The Theory of Everything in 2015, is nominated this year for The Danish Girl.

Here is the full list of nominees, which also gives some love to some of the past year’s critical successes (yet uncertain contenders) Brooklyn, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Martian:
