The 2015 Oscars will be hosted by television star Neil Patrick Harris, best known for his role on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother.

This will be the first time that Harris helms the Oscars, but the actor is no stranger to hosting televised award events — he has also hosted the Tonys and Emmys in recent years.

Harris confirmed the Academy Awards news with this clever video:

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, producers of the 2014 Oscars, are returning to produce the 2015 event.

“We are thrilled to have Neil host the Oscars,” said Zadan and Meron in a statement. “We have known him his entire adult life, and we have watched him explode as a great performer in feature films, television and stage. To work with him on the Oscars is the perfect storm, all of his resources and talent coming together on a global stage.”

Added Harris, “It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”

The 87th Annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live on February 22, 2015.

The 2014 Oscars were helmed by Ellen DeGeneres, who broke Twitter when she created the greatest selfie of all time:

Do you think Harris will do a great job as Oscar host?

Don’t bother to answer that – of course he will!

Harris is having a particularly great end of 2014. In addition to nabbing the Oscar gig, Harris just released an autobiography titled Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography and married his longtime partner David Burtka.
