The Tony nominations were announced this morning, and A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder leads the pack with 10 nominations, with Hedwig and the Angry Inch in second place with eight nominations.

Although the Tony rules changed this year to allow for additional nominees in the Best Show categories, the only category that has an additional nominee is Best Play, with five nominees. Tony voters proved once again that they have very short memories. The four musicals that are no longer playing received one nomination among them – a Best Actress nod for A Night With Janis Joplin. The six original plays that are no longer playing received three nominations among them.

With the nominations announced, there is plenty of good news for A Gentlemen’s Guide, Hedwig, After Midnight (which most did not expect to receive many nominations), Beautiful, Aladdin, and Violet. There is bad news for If/Then and Cabaret, who only got two nominations apiece.

Here is the full list of nominees!
