The 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards were held this evening in Los Angeles. Argo won Best Film Ensemble, further suggesting it may pick up the Oscar in February.

The award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Motion Picture went to Argo, which has burst into the lead for Best Picture at the Oscars, and is now, dare I say it, a mortal lock for the award come February 24.

Daniel Day-Lewis continued his award season sweep for his outstanding portrayal of the 16th President of the United States in Lincoln, as Jennifer Lawrence scooped up the award for Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture for Silver Linings Playbook.

In the Supporting Acting categories, Anne Hathaway predictably picked up the award for her tremendous performance as Fantine in Les Miserables, while Tommy Lee Jones was awarded in a rather wide-open field for Lincoln, as he may be looking at an Oscar win (Golden Globe winner this year, Christoph Waltz, wasn’t nominated).

Downton Abbey was a bit of a surprise picking up the award for Best Ensemble in a Television Series – Drama. For Best Male Actor in a Drama Series, Bryan Cranston picked up the award for his outstanding performance on Breaking Bad, announcing,”It’s so good to be bad,” before adding, “Tonight, at least, I am well endowed.” For Best Female Actor in a Drama Series, Claire Danes picked up the award for her stunning performance on Homeland.

Modern Family was awarded the Best Comedy ensemble award for Television. Ahead of its series finale, 30 Rock picked up Best Comedy Actress and Actor awards for Tiny Fey and Alec Baldwin, who presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dick Van Dyke.

For their work in TV Movies and Miniseries, Julianne Moore was rewarded Best Female Actor for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in Game Change, while Kevin Costner won Best Male Actor in Hatfields and McCoys.
