Briefly: The Academy Awards announced this morning that they will host a movie musical tribute honoring the best films of the past decade.

“The musical as a motion picture genre has had a remarkable renaissance in the last decade,” said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “We are excited to showcase three musical films—‘Chicago,’ ‘Dreamgirls’ and ‘Les Misérables’— on our Oscar show.”

There were no other details shared, so we’ll have to wait to see just what kind of tribute is in the works. Presumably performers from each of the films will be there and singing live on stage.

If Beyonce appears is a part of the Dreamgirls segment, she’ll have had quite the line up of major television events in 2013: The Presidential Inauguration, the Super Bowl, and this.

Last week rumors surfaced that suggested the Les Miserables‘ cast would be uniting to perform a medley.

The 2013 Academy Awards will take place Sunday, February 24 and air live on ABC.
