Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook were in the spotlight as the National Board of Review revealed its picks for the best of film in 2012.

Hot of its wins for Best Film and Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle awards on Monday, Zero Dark Thirty picked up three top prizes, Best Film, Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow, and Best Actress for Jessica Chastain, as the film continues to pick up Oscars steam. Silver Linings Playbook was also shown some love, as Bradley Cooper upset Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Actor, although Day-Lewis is still a near-lock for the Oscars. David O. Russell also picked up an award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Elsewhere it was nice to see Rian Johnson get some attention for Best Original Screenplay for Looper, and Ann Dowd is a surprise for her performance and the tense Compliance. Ben Affleck also got some well-deserved attention for Argo.
