‘My Cousin Rachel‘ by Daphne du Maurier, June 9

A remake of the 1951 novel, My Cousin Rachel is a period piece and love story. The 2017 film adaptation stars Sam Claflin and Rachel Weisz.

‘The Dark Tower‘ by Stephen King, Aug. 4

The long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s fantasy-western series is finally coming. Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), the last Gunslinger, is locked in an eternal battle with The Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

‘The Glass Castle‘ by Jeannette Walls, Aug. 11

The Glass Castle is a memoir of Jeannette Walls, and her sibling’s poverty-stricken childhood with dysfunctional parents. The movie adaptation stars Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts.

‘Tulip Fever‘ by Deborah Moggach, Aug. 25

Based upon on the 1999 novel of the same name comes a period piece set in The Netherlands during what is known as the ‘Tulip Mania.’ The story follows a young artist who falls for a married young women whom he was hired to draw of portrait of. The film adaptation stars Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan, Zach Galifianakis, Cara Delevingne, Judi Dench, Christoph Waltz, and Matthew Morrison, among many others.

‘It‘ by Stephen King, Sept. 8

When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine a group of friends start a fight against the frightening clown, Pennywise.

‘The Snowman’ by Jo Nesbø, Oct. 20

Michael Fassbender stars in this British crime drama adapted from the Norwegian novel by Jo Nesbø. Detective Harry Hole investigates a missing woman whose pink scarf was found wrapped around an ominous looking snowman.

‘The Mountain Between Us‘ by Charles Martin, Oct. 20

If you liked Kate Winslet in the famous romance-disaster blockbuster Titanic, then you might like her in the newest romance-disaster The Mountain Between Us. Starring along side Idris Elba, a man and a woman have to work together when their plane crashes in the wilderness.

‘Thank You for Your Service’ by David Finkel, Oct. 27

From Pulitzer Prize winner journalist David Finkel’s non-fiction book comes a drama about recovering soldiers of modern war. The film stars Miles Teller, Amy Schumer, Haley Bennett, Joe Cole, and Beulah Koale.

‘Wonder‘ by R.J. Palacio, Nov. 17

Directed by The Perks of Being a Wallflower author and director, Stephen Chbosky, comes a story about a boy struggling to overcome his facial deformity. The film stars Jacob Tremblay, along with Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Mandy Patinkin.

‘Murder on the Orient Express‘ by Agatha Christie, Nov. 10

A famous novel by a famous mystery novelist, this movie tells a story of the race against time in solving a murder aboard a train traveling across Europe. Kenneth Branagh directs and stars in this 2017 adaptation, alongside Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench and Michelle Pfeiffer.

‘Call Me by Your Name’ by André Aciman, Nov. 24

A 2007 novel tells the story of an American-Italian-Jewish 17-year-old boy spending the summer in Italy and falling for an American-Jewish scholar in the 1980s.

‘Let It Snow’ by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle, November

Let it Snow is an anthology of three different holiday romance stories that intertwine each other. The release date for the 2017 film adaptation has not been confirmed, but currently is slated to be released sometime November.

‘On Chesil Beach’ by Ian McEwan, Jan. 18, 2018

If you liked Ian McEwan’s Atonement, you will like On Chesil Beach. Set in the 1960s, the novel, and upcoming movie, follow a young couple on their honeymoon. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan, who was nominated for an Academy Award back in 2007 for her portrayal of Briony Tallis in the film adaptation of Atonement.

The 2015 bestseller The Nightingale follows the story of two sisters in France during WWII. Breaking Bad producer Michelle MacLaren is set to direct.

‘Annihilation’ by Jeff Vandermeer, TBD, 2018

The upcoming adaptation of Jeff Vandermeer’s novel Annihilation stars Natalie Portman and Jennifer Jason Leigh as a biologist and psychologist, respectively, going on an expedition to an environmental disaster zone. The film also stars Oscar Isaac, Tessa Thompson, and Gina Rodriguez.
