The final trailer for the upcoming season of 13 Reasons Why reveals the season’s big murder — and that nearly everyone had a motive for doing it.

Ahead of its August 23 release, Netflix dropped the final trailer for the third season of 13 Reasons Why, along with the overarching question for the season: Who killed Bryce Walker?

Of course, the ‘why’ someone might murder Bryce Walker is apparent to anyone who’s watched the last two seasons of 13 Reasons Why.

Long the series’ antagonist, season 1 revealed Bryce Walker as the student who raped Hannah Walker, whose suicide was the central focus of that initial season. In season 2, Bryce Walker sexually assaulted Jessica Davis — then, as a brutally and painfully realistic call to current events, received only three months probation as a punishment.

When the second season of 13 Reasons Why ended with Bryce free and enjoying himself at the Spring Fling, completely unencumbered and unrepentant about the heinous acts of evil he’d committed, viewers wondered if anyone would get justice for the crimes that Bryce had committed.

As we can see in the trailer below, it seems someone did — by taking justice into their own hands.

The official Netflix summary of the upcoming third season lets us know that nearly everyone at Liberty High has a motive for murdering the notorious athlete. Check out the summary below:

The secrets at Liberty High run deep and in the aftermath of the Homecoming game all of the friends have something to hide. As the mystery of his death engulfs the town, there are numerous suspects in focus. But were any of them truly capable of murder? And who is the new girl? Police are determined to get to the truth, but with a web of secrets and lies this tangled, will anyone be found guilty?

Season 3 of 13 Reasons Why takes place eight months after Tyler’s thwarted attempt to bring a gun to the Spring Fling. The season will open with Bryce’s death and disappearance, and the season will follow along as police attempt to go through their list of suspects — with Clay Jensen right at the top of it.

Ahead of the third season, Netflix renewed 13 Reasons Why for a fourth and final season. Season 3 will drop on August 23.
