We’d like all 8 reasons to just be Tatiana Maslany, but for those of you who still need more convincing we’ve compiled a list of compelling reasons for why you need to watch Orphan Black.
At this point there’s no excuse for not giving Orphan Black a shot, with 8 months to go until it’s comeback in April of 2014 you can watch an episode every two weeks and still have plenty of time! But you won’t need that long because once you start you won’t be able to stop.

Character development that makes you connect with almost every character.
Often times when you’re watching a TV show or movie you find yourself identifying with at least one character. Whether that’s the main hero or the antagonist, that’s your prerogative, but a good story will make sure that you connect with someone. Orphan Black manages to have it’s audience identifying with almost every clone and even the antagonist. You’ll question your morals once you realize that you feel for the villain!
Original storytelling that will blow your mind.
Clones/twins have been done before, but Orphan Black manages to take it to a whole new level. You think you already know what the show is about and that you won’t be interested in another show with “clones” but once you watch you’ll realize that Orphan Black is more than just clones: It’s about how different you can be if you were raised in a different environment, nature vs nurture and what would happen if science went to a whole new level than we know now.
Writing that gets you hooked with episode one.
There are pilots that make you go “ooh that was good” and then there’s Orphan Black. When you finish the first episode you’ll immediately want to watch the next because by the end you’ll just be saying to yourself (and your friends) “what the eff was that?!” And as soon as you get introduced to all the different clones in the show you’ll realize that each character is so different and so amazing that you’ll grow attached to all of them.
Technological marvels.
If you think Orphan Black is a show that’ll do the cheapskate way of doing clones and never showing them in the same frame, you’re dead wrong. You’ll learn quickly that this show will do the previously impossible and show multiple clones in one frame, giving you the impression that Tatiana Maslany is actually talking to herself.

A cast of actors who can match Meryl Streep.
We won’t spoil you because we want you to see for yourself: Where do you think Tatiana Maslany is from? Which accent is her real one? That’s something that we had the longest time figuring out before we saw her at Comic-Con, and the answer might surprise you! Not only does Maslany do a fabulous job at conveying different accents but so do the other actors on the show. Just watch the first episode and guess where they’re all from, and you’ll be surprised once you find the answers.
Every actor on this show is stunning – from Dylan Bruce who plays Paul, Jordan Gavaris who plays Felix, to Michael Mando who plays Vic. Not one of these actors are in over their heads and bring stunning performances on every episode they’re in.
Show runners who know how to handle plots and story arcs perfectly.
The fantastic thing about Graeme Manson & John Fawcett (the two show runners) is that they’re all about being creative but also taking their time. The plots they’ve developed this season are intricate, yet not confusing, and lead to perfect arcs that can last as long as they want them without being diluted or filled with fluff.
And even though it’s a clone show, they don’t plan on making Orphan Black a show with throwaway characters. Each new clone that the show will bring will show you that Manson and Fawcett know what they’re doing, and we can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves!
A fandom that will welcome you with open arms.
If you take a look at the Orphan Black tag on tumblr you’ll notice it’s filled with #CloneClub members. That’s what fandom members call themselves, because we love our clones ever so much. If you make a post on the social network looking for fellow fans of the show you’ll find yourself greeted within minutes by fans who are eager to welcome you into the fandom.
Tatiana Maslany.
We can’t help ourselves, she has to be a reason! Without Maslany this should would definitely be different, and we just can’t imagine it. She brings a whole new level to the show and you won’t be able to believe the different mannerisms and traits she brings to each of her characters. Even though she was snubbed for an Emmy, Maslany is making a name for herself and you have to see her in action on Orphan Black.
