Forbes has released the official list of the top 10 highest paid actresses of 2015, and while most of the actresses’ salaries are to be expected, there are always a few surprises.

Actresses, just like their male counterparts, get paid enormous amounts of cash to star in Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters each year and 2015 was no different. Forbes has already released their list of the top 10 actors, and now they’ve released 2015’s top 10 highest paid actresses.

1. Jennifer Lawrence – $52 million

Jennifer Lawrence is without a doubt the biggest actress in the world over the past year. The actress has been a part of multiple franchises, which have brought in the majority of her total, but she’s also been able to squeeze into a few Oscar-worthy films as well.

With X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, Jen’s incredible talent and amazing choices in independent films has resulted in her becoming the highest paid actress of 2015. Forbes shows her taking in $52 million worldwide after taxes and management fees. She’s worth every penny, as she has an enormous following, and is actually bringing her A-game to every film she stars in. Blockbuster or low-budget films, she’s always at her best, and there’s nothing better than seeing her display her talent on the big screen.

2. Scarlett Johansson – $32.5 million

Scarlett Johansson is next on the list with $32.5 million, with the majority coming from her roles in Marvel’s films as Black Widow. She was in the incredible Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as The Avengers: Age of Ultron. While she’s in major tentpole films, she’s also allowing herself to sneak in some great smaller films such as Lucy and Her.

Scarlett has been around for quite a while now, due to starting at such a young age, but she continues to impress moviegoers and has a loyal following. She’ll continue to be a massive part of The Avengers as the Black Widow, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us in 2016 with Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book.

3. Melissa McCarthy – $23 million

Melissa McCarthy might be the most surprising on the list, as she’s blown up since her role in 2011’s breakout comedy Bridesmaids. She’s making bank with her comedies, and while some fans are split on her doing a lot of the same types of comedy, it seems they aren’t tired of her just yet.

She’ll be appearing in the Ghostbusters reboot with an all female cast (except for Chris Hemsworth) and we imagine she’ll continue her reign of comedy for the next few years. She’s the new “it” girl in comedy, after getting her start on television and moving on to starring in blockbusters like 2013’s The Heat alongside Sandra Bullock.

4. Bingbing Fan – $21 million

Bingbing Fan might be the only actress on the list that American audiences won’t recognize right away, but she’s massively popular in her home country of China. She was also in Iron Man 3, and while she was in the U.S. version, she’s so popular in China, that Marvel shot additional scenes with the actress in Iron Man 3 to release an additional cut exclusively in the country to help bring in her massive fanbase. Expect to see her make her way into more American films soon, especially with her recent role in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Bingbing Fan was also in X-Men: Days of Future Past as Blink, where she’s most likely been recognized by American audiences, and she’ll continue to make her way into Hollywood films as she cracks the top 10 list with $21 million in 2015. Some of her Chinese films include Wan Wu Sheng Zhang, Lady of the Dynasty, and The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom, where she’s also received a large sum of her 2015 total.

5. Jennifer Aniston – $16.5 million

America’s sweetheart has started to drop a bit on this list, but she’s still holding pretty strong with $16.5 million in 2015. She had the critically successful film Cake in 2014, and was in the Horrible Bosses‘ sequel last year which helped bring her total up to top 10 material.

While she’s doing less films, she’s still killing it with comedies, which has been her bread and butter for years. While the Friends‘ star is still pulling a lot of the same moves at the theater, she proved in Cake that she still has the acting chops to compete with the best of Hollywood’s ladies, and her $16.5 million proves fans are still willing to go see her at the theater.

6. Julia Roberts – $16 million

Julia Roberts has started to fade into the background since her days of being the top actress in the world, but her #6 spot on Forbes’ list proves that she’s still in the game. Her talent was seen again most recently in 2013’s August: Osage County, and she continues to bring in big checks even if she isn’t as in demand as she once was.

She’ll pop up in a few movies in the next few years, and we’ll most likely see her at the Oscars more often than on Forbes top 10 list in the future, which is most likely where she’ll prefer to be during this time of her career.

7. Angelina Jolie – $15 million

While Angelina Jolie has been stepping behind the camera in recent years, her #7 spot proves fans still want to see the talented actress up on the big screen. Her Disney film Maleficent was a big success, and already has a sequel slated for 2016.

We imagine she’ll continue her incredible humanitarian work, while getting behind and in front of the camera over the next few years. We just don’t know where she finds the time with her six kids with actor Brad Pitt, who’s definitely been on a few top 10 highest paid actor lists himself.

8. Reese Witherspoon – $15 million

Reese Witherspoon’s biggest story in the last few years was her getting hit by a car driven by an elderly lady while she took a run in the street back in 2011. But, the actress turned things around in her critically acclaimed film, Wild, followed up by her buddy cop film The Hot Pursuit.

The actress has pure talent, and while her personal life has taken her out of some of the top of spots of this list, she’s proven time and time again that her talent is unwavering, and we look forward to seeing her in many of her upcoming projects. She’s also producing films with her own company Pacific Standard, which has a goal of bringing more female leads to upcoming Hollywood films. We’re very excited about that, and hope this means she’ll be here for a long time, even if she’s not up on the big screen herself.

9. Anne Hathaway – $12 million

Probably the biggest surprise is Anne Hathaway isn’t higher on Forbes’ list this year. Anne won an Oscar in 2012’s Les Misérables, so we expected to see her in more films over the last three years, but she’s kept it low-key.

She was still in director Chris Nolan’s 2014 Interstellar, which took in $672 million worldwide, and we imagine that helped bring her into the top 10. Anne Hathaway isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, as she’s incredibly talented and has longevity that surpasses most of the other actresses on this list due to her versatility. We look forward to seeing what she has in store for her fans in the coming months.

10. Kristen Stewart – $10 million

Kristen Stewart has dipped a bit in Forbes’ list since The Twilight Saga ended, but she’s still been steadily working her way up the ladder. What’s more impressive than her salary is that she’s putting out some truly incredible work.

She was beyond amazing in Still Alice, and her performance was only overlooked due to Julianne Moore’s Oscar-winning performance in the same film. Kristen is a much better actress than people ever thought she would be, and her role in Camp X-Ray proved that most recently. If you’re looking for one person to jump up in this list next year, look no further. She’ll be moving up a couple spots next year, with half a dozen films lined up, and many of them being high-paying gigs.

Actresses surprisingly missing from this year’s list

Many of these actresses are in huge tentpole movies each year, so it’s not surprising to see them on this list, but some of the actresses’ popularity has dropped over recent years. Some actresses missing from this list include Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain and Mila Kunis.

It’s likely this list will shift quite a bit next year, but it’s interesting to see who is making the big bucks right now. We imagine someone like Kristen Stewart will jump back up to a higher spot on this list next year, with massive franchise movies and potential Oscar-worthy roles lined up.

Jennifer Lawrence is set to hold the #1 spot next year as well mostly due to her role as Katniss in The Hunger Game’s finale, Mockingjay Part 2, so we can only hope she comes up with another American Hustle or Silver Linings Playbook for us to enjoy outside of her franchise films. She’s got the talent, is still incredibly young, and has been keeping it together despite all odds against her.

One good thing is it doesn’t seem like one genre is taking up all of the spots, as we see a dynamic range of comedians, dramatic, and other diverse actresses on the list, which means we could see some different actresses at the top of the list next year.
