Forbes has released the official list of the top 10 highest paid actors of 2015, and while most of the actors’ salaries are to be expected, there are definitely a few surprises.

Actors get paid enormous amounts of cash to star in Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters each year, and 2015 is no different. Forbes always does a nice job of putting together a list of the top 10 actors, and this year we’re surprised to see a few big name actors missing from the list.

1. Robert Downey Jr. – $80 million

Robert Downey Jr. makes all of his #1 total from his role as Iron Man in Marvel’s massively popular films. He was most recently in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which took in an estimated $1.39 billion worldwide.

The actor would go on to earn a total of $80 million for all of his acting roles. This is the third year in a row that he’s been the #1 earner in Hollywood, and that shouldn’t change next year as he has Captain America: Civil War hitting theaters in 2016, where he’s set to earn another enormous sum due to Cap and Iron Man battling each other, along with Spider-Man making a cameo.

2. Jackie Chan – $50 million

In probably the most surprising name on the list, Jackie Chan comes in at #2 with $50 million. While the actor used to be incredibly popular in the U.S., his career has died down a bit. But, it seems he’s still making movies and making some impressive bank.

It’s possible he’s making foreign films in China, which has become the second largest movie market in the last few years. Films have even started bringing in Chinese actors to tap into their audiences, which was most recently seen in Iron Man 3, where they also released an alternate cut of the film in the country.

3. Vin Diesel – $47 million

Vin Diesel has one of the biggest fanbases in the movie business. He has the most fans on Facebook out of any actor on the planet with 94 million, and his Fast & Furious franchise continues to bring in massive numbers despite losing actor Paul Walker to a terrible car crash back in 2013.

Diesel will continue to pull in big numbers in the future, with Furious 8 hitting theaters April 14, 2017. While Paul Walker will be incredibly missed, Vin Diesel was the driving force behind the franchise due to his massive fanbase. We think Diesel will be on this list for the next few years due solely to his role in the Furious franchise.

4. Bradley Cooper – $41.5 million

Bradley Cooper had a massive hit with American Sniper, where he played the real life Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle. The film cost a measly $58 million to make, but ended up making $547 million worldwide. This is most likely what has Cooper at the top of Forbes’ list, as his other films weren’t very big money-makers.

His most recent film, Aloha, was a massive flop — surprising considering it co-starred the red-hot Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. Bradley Cooper is an insanely talented actor, and we imagine he’s only going to get better with age. We expect to see him in the top 10 list for years to come.

5. Adam Sandler – $41 million

The comedian that has a spell on his audience, despite making awful films, Sandler continues to rake in enormous amounts of money. This is mostly due to the fact that he has a great formula of making low budget movies which do somewhat decent at the box office.

His movies are critically panned, but his loyal fanbase keeps going to see his movies despite them continuing to be terrible. It won’t surprise us to see him on this same list next year, as he’s got a perfect formula for making bad movies and keeping the costs low. Plus, he produces most, if not all, of his movies, so he’s able to benefit even more financially by making more flops each year.

6. Tom Cruise – $40 million

In a surprising drop, Tom Cruise is at #6 on Forbes’ 2015 list, but that should change after his incredible performance in the recently released Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. The sequel is already in the works, and he’ll most likely not have two flops in a row like he did this past year with Jack Reacher and Oblivion.

Despite a confusing title, his role in Edge of Tomorrow was highly praised, and after Rogue Nation finishes its run at the box office we imagine he’ll make a jump on this list next year.

7. Amitabh Bachchan $33.5 million

While he may not be known in the U.S., Bachchan is a very popular actor in India, which is fast becoming another massive box office market. The actor has had a lot of success in the past year, and we imagine that will continue as there are simply more people to go see his films.

It’s unclear if he’ll make the move to the U.S. market, but it wouldn’t surprise us at all if the actor was soon on the big screen in U.S. theaters.

8. Salman Khan – $33.5 million

Salman Khan is another outsider who is making bank as Bollywood’s “bad guy.” He’s reportedly a talented actor who has been making big hits in his home country, and while we’ve yet to see him over in any American films, Bollywood is a good place for many actors to start.

9. Akshay Kumar – $32.5 million

Another Indian actor, Akshay Kumar is raking in the money in his home country, where he stars in dozens of films and has a massive fan base. He’s unlikely to make the crossover to American films, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for him, as he’s making more than enough in India’s growing movie market.

10. Mark Wahlberg – $32 million

Marky Mark is doing very well for himself lately, with his role in Transformers: Age of Extinction becoming a massive hit, despite being panned by audiences. One good thing about Wahlberg is that he isn’t just doing blockbusters, but smaller roles as well like his previous role in 2010’s The Fighter.

Wahlberg has become a talented actor, and whether he’s in a blockbuster or in a picture that cost $30 million, he’ll continue to make money. He’s a smart businessman, and he’s doesn’t allow himself to get stuck in one area of Hollywood. We’ll see him in the next Transformers‘ movie, so we imagine he’ll be on this list next year as well.

Actors surprisingly missing from this year’s list

Many of these actors are in huge tentpole movies each year, so it’s not surprising to see them on this list, but some outside the states are surprising. Some actors missing from this list are Will Smith, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ben Affleck.

It’s likely this list will shift a bit next year, but it’s interesting to see who is making the big bucks right now. We imagine someone like Chris Evans will jump into this list next year, with massive Marvel movies coming out next year.

Let us know who surprises you the most, and who you expected to be in the top 10 list.
