Episode #123: Auto-Tuned

Hosted by Selina Wilken, Pamela Gocobachi, Marama Whyte

November 21, 2016

This week, Hype Podcast brings you early reviews of A Monster Calls and Hidden Figures, new information about Beauty and the Beast, lots of love for The Mindy Project and much more.

Because our Fantastic Beasts special is coming very soon, this episode of Hype is completely Harry Potter-free! Well… except for Marama’s review of Puffs, but hey, we tried. Enjoy!

How We Hype:
– Marama went to NYC and caught a performance of Puffs
– Selina reviews A Monster Calls and Arrival
– She also caught an early screening of Hidden Figures, while Marama is busy reading the book
– Pam reviews A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service
– Marama reacts to the latest tracks from the Mamilton Mixtape and new Two Door Cinema Club music
– And finally, Selina had access to new Beauty and the Beast footage, including samples of some of the songs.

News:
Beauty and the Beast also had a trailer out, full of beauty (and a strange-looking Beast!)
– The Han Solo spinoff has added Emilia Clarke, but chill, we don’t yet know which role she’s playing
– Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time now has a release date! It’s a ways away, but that gives us plenty of time to read the book
– Marvel announces Inhumans series for ABC, in lieu of a movie
– The 100 season 4 finally has a premiere date
– A Series of Unfortunate Events’ new trailer is wonderfil
– Marama reacts to the first look at BBC’s Cormoran Strike TV series.

TV Show of the Week:
– It’s all about the season finale of The Mindy Project! No spoilers.

We wrap up as always with Listener Feedback, which includes more fantasy castings for Dumbledore, and Doctor Strange reactions. Get in touch by leaving a comment on this post, tweeting us @HypableHYPE, and/or emailing [email protected].
