HBO has released the synopses for the final two episodes of True Detective season 1 which are set to air in March.

Episode 7 “After You’ve Gone”

“Hart (Woody Harrelson) and Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) forge a truce to probe a murky string of disappearances that tie to the symbology of the Dora Lange murder and the Tuttle family.”

Episode 8 “Form and Void”

“An overlooked detail provides Hart and Cohle with an important new lead in their 17-year-old case.”

As usual, these True Detective synopses don’t reveal many secrets but offer a small look into how we can expect the show to wrap up. For example, episode 7’s synopsis suggests that present day Hart and Cohle begin working together again in order to crack this case once and for all. Also, the season finale appears to introduce a twist in the form of some new evidence that pushes this case into new territory.

Episode 8 is the final episode of season 1. Since True Detective is an anthology, the show will introduce new lead characters and an entirely new story for season 2. Because of this, it’s very likely that Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey will not return for the sophomore season.
