Although the initial rumor in 2012 was ultimately denied by Disney after being spread like wildfire, a new report from The Tracking Board says that Tina Fey and her company, Little Stranger, will produce the project.

Fey is joining Allison Shearmur from Allison Shearmur Productions along with executives Bryan Oh and Stephen Meinen, who were attached to the project previously. And Disney is coming on board through executives Jessica Virtue and Tendo Nagenda.

No director is currently signed on for the project, but fans are hoping that Kenny Ortega will return to direct the Hocus Pocus sequel, since he did such a fantastic job with it in the ’90s.

Currently untitled, the Hocus Pocus sequel looks like it might not be focusing on the Sanderson sisters, but rather will take place years after the first film and revolve around a housewife who is related to them. The housewife teams up with a witch hunter to save her children, who’ve come into some trouble because of a few resurrected witches they encounter while they were out trick-or-treating.

No actors from the original movie have signed on or are even rumored to be a part of the Hocus Pocus sequel, but it’s speculated that Tina Fey and/or Melissa McCarthy could play the parts of housewife and witch hunter.

Whether Fey decides to both produce and act or just produce the film, we’re thrilled to hear she’s involved in this project. We have less reservations about a Hocus Pocus sequel now that she’s attached to it.
