Tonight, HBO released our first look into the highly anticipated second season of The Newsroom, where we hear straight from Sorkin himself about all the goodies in store for the crew at News Night.
After releasing the VERY disappointing trailer a few short weeks ago, HBO has finally given us our first real look at what Aaron Sorkin and company have in store for The Newsroom season 2:
In a departure from the typical trailer format, we get an interview style video where Aaron Sorkin and Alan Poul (Executive Producer/Director) reveal details about what we can expect this season. In addition to all of the news coverage stories that will undoubtedly make up most of the plot for The Newsroom season 2, there will also be a season long story arch centering around a wrongful termination lawsuit, which according to Marcia Gay Harden’s character, could spell disaster for everyone, including Will and Mac.
We also get quick glimpses of all our favorite characters with short descriptions of where they will begin the second season. Jim has volunteered to go out on the road and cover the Romney campaign for President in order to escape the incredibly awkward romantic office politics between himself and Maggie.
The chemistry between Sloane and Don will continue to play a factor, which should present some memorably awkward Sloane moments, which we certainly can’t wait to see. Will and Mac will also pick up where they left off in their relationship drama, as Will continues to hold a grudge against Mac for her indiscretion.
Neal will take a vested interest in the Occupy movement, and once again, no one else will take him and his interests seriously. Also, Maggie will have a serious string of misfortune, and according to Sorkin will “lose everything.” We then get a scripted quote from the season where Will says, “If what happened to her happened to you, you’d kill yourself for the rest of your life.” Well, that sounds ominous now doesn’t it?
